Throwback

Tonight, for the first time in at least five years, I donned a cap, goggles, and Speedo swim suit and hit the lanes at the local Boys and Girls' Club pool. While I'd been toying with the idea of getting back into swimming for awhile (I'm trying to see how long I last without buying a gym membership) my main motivation tonight was to help my roommate prep for her triathlon. Which is this weekend. She's swam about four times, this YEAR. But she did great and I'm confident she'll do well when she hit the Pacific Ocean for her race on Sunday!!

It felt a little weird to be back in the water (especially since my cap was from my high school waterpolo team and our rival high school's waterpolo team was practicing in the next pool!). I'm definitely out of swim shape and will be feeling it tomorrow, but I enjoyed it. (Not really enjoying the left over scent of chlorine lingering on my skin right now, even post shower). I told myself when I came back to California that I was going to be better about being active and get creative with it, so here I go!

Finally, Friday.

To say work this week has been "busy" is a gigantic understatement, so, I'm a little wiped on this Friday morning. And while I realize that I've been a bad blogger, I just don't have anything exciting to share, so I'm going to rely on a little bit of Internet fun to entertain you today. Have a wonderful weekend!!

Truly America's Finest City

We've taken to heart Ron Burgundy's charge to "Stay Classy" alright. Check out this article about what happened when a waitress dropped all the money she'd just collected while serving a Chargers game!

Yes. I did.

I don't care what anyone has to say about it: I went to Target this morning. I was there at 7:55am. And I'm really enjoying my Missoni for Target shower curtain.

And all my other purchases :)

Blackout - 2011

SoCal blackout September 2011....BME was convinced it was a terrorist attack. Turns out, it was just an energy worker who hit the wrong switch.

Bright Lights, Big City

BestMomEver and I are headed East this weekend for some time in the Big Apple! Our main reason for going is to try to orchestrate my destiny by meeting this guy:

Hello, John Isner.  Andy who?

We have tickets to the US Open a few different days, so hopefully the rain stays away long enough for us to enjoy them! (The last few weeks, actually this whole summer, of weather has REALLY made me grateful to live in America's Finest City.)

In addition to attending my second Grand Slam tourney, BME and I will hit our NYC trip staple: Bendel's. Now that they've expanded to Dallas, San Diego and a few other spots, some of the glamour of the 5th Ave store has lessened (but it's still my favorite!).

I also get to see NBN and as we add another city/state to our ever growing list of places we've met/traveled to together. We plan to spend some time at the Plaza, and maybe do some special shopping :).

NBN and me getting late-night kebabs in Schaffhausen, Switzerland

I went to Price Club to prep for the trip. After five long months of punishing myself for losing my brand new camera somewhere across the Pond (probably in the River Clyde) I bought a new one. (Mainly because the blog was getting boring without pictures. I mean, who actually wants to read anymore?)
I also stocked up on important reading material for those cross-country plane rides.

Have a fun, safe, Labor Day weekend!!
