New Wheels

After three months of saving my dinero and sharing a ride with BestMomEver, I finally decided it was time for my own set of wheels. I'd been looking for awhile, but this week I turned up the heat and yesterday, I made a decision.....

BME took a quick pic at the dealer yesterday to send to my dad. That's good old GPA in the background, he helped me broker the deal. We had a lot of fun hanging out the last two days while I made a decision and I heard A LOT of stories....(if you ever are curious as to how Hollandia dairy started, I'd be happy to tell you....)

I think my favorite thing is the Bluetooth technology. I drove the long way home from work yesterday, just because I was having so much fun calling people from my car!!

Next step is to find a dwelling, then I think the big move will finally feel complete.

It Will Be Better

After a good six months of big life changes and adjustments, I've realized that it's ok to second guess myself. It's ok to wonder if I'm making the right decisions and be nervous when there's no way to know for sure.  I'm trying to be better at is giving myself a little lee-way. In so many areas (family, work, friendships, etc.) I want to be perfect on the first run at everything, which just isn't feasible. New obstacles, like keeping in touch with friends I've moved away from or being in an office with new people, are going to take time to master; I just need time to get it right.

Which is why when I saw my friend Champagne Tastes post this blog on her Facebook, it really hit home. If romantic comedies have taught us anything, we should know by now it's usually when your heel is stuck in manhole cover and a runaway dumpster is heading straight for you that you find the most perfect scenarios!

A Beachy Weekend

I spent the majority of my weekend in _____ Beach. Thursday, I met some friends in Pacific Beach to play night football in the sand under the lights in front of the Capri Hotel. So fun, but considering I'd been working at a tradeshow at 6am that morning, I was pretty wiped on Friday.

Saturday night BestMomEver and I went up to Newport Beach, to the Newport Beach Country Club, to watch a World Team Tennis match with Pete Sampras as the marquee player for the Newport Breakers. A nice surprise was Martina Hingis playing for the New York team; she played really well and was a lot of fun to watch. Pete, unfortunately, not so much. He did not seem very interested in being there which was a bummer for all the spectators that came out to see him.

Then I finished the weekend having a mini-college reunion in Long Beach with some great friends who'd attended a wedding. We had an awesome brunch at Schooner or Later, then a few of us walked around the harbor for a bit. I only got a picture of a few of the people that I got to see, but still captured a great day!

I head to Dallas next week for a certain S.Hutch's wedding and a week at the Texas office. Not excited about the heat, but I cannot wait to see all my friends that I miss so dearly!!

America's Dog

Happy (belated) 2nd Birthday to Levi!! 

My fourth roommate turned 2 years old yesterday, on the 4th of July. After LittleBro rescued him in Dallas, the vet estimated he'd been born in early July. We're decided that he was born on the 4th, and is therefore America's dog!

BestMomEver truly out did herself and made Levi a cake of all his favorite things

 Salmon Paws, dog bones, and tennis balls, frozen in ice! He LOVED it.

This summer, Levi has provided endless entertainment. I love watching him because he's so curious about everything and he hates being left out.

 

 He loves to sit in my room, at the front of the house, and check out what's going on in the neighborhood.

When I was sick a few weeks ago, I woke up to this little face. He stayed near/on my bed for the whole day I was in it, until I was better.

 He loves getting into Mom and Dad's bed. Especially on BME's side, right after she puts on new sheets!

He's not a big fan of LittleBro being hungover, as evidenced by this one morning...

He LOVES to pose. I swear, he thinks he has his own reality TV show because he's always posing or showing off. Which, considering how funny this little puppy is, would make for pretty good viewing.

Happy to be enjoying the 4th of July this year from the Best Coast, but missing some of the annual antics that have taken place in the past.....

Fashion.Overload.

My favorite time of year is fast approaching and this year Nordy's did something even better than send out a preview catalog....they sent out a preview email! Normally us loyal customers get the much anticipated Anniversary catalog about three weeks before it's available at stores or to the casual customer; the catalog has a sampling of what's going to be available, then when you actually go shopping, you see all the sale items. 

Not this year! Instead, I got an email with links to EVERYTHING in each department that will be offered. I spent my lunch break yesterday perusing the offerings...probably a good thing for my bank account, I wasn't drooling over nearly as much as a I usually do. Also could be influenced by the fact that since I'm not longer living in Texas, I'm not preparing for random stretches of freezing temps and the occasional freak snow day!

On top of the Anniversary sale, today Neiman Marcus began their pre-sale of Rachel Zoe's first collection for them. 

Now, talking about drooling....she clearly designed this collection after all her favorite/signature looks. Which, since she and I have basically opposite body types, means a lot of these pieces aren't going to end up in my closet. But I can still appreciate them! Sadly, Neiman Marcus wouldn't let me borrow any of their images (rude) so you'll just have to hit up the website for yourself. 

My overall thoughts on the collection: classy.innovative.creative.timeless.

Happily Ever After

This past weekend, I ventured back to the great state of Texas to celebrate another family wedding. I have to get pics from BME, then I'll do a big ol' recap post, because it was quite the party!! 

That Sunday, while I was enjoying a much needed brunch at Trudy's (tacos ricos, yum!!) I got a phone call that I'd been expecting all morning.

My lovely bestie Shufy was on the other end of the line, sharing excitedly that her boyfriend had popped the big question...and she said YES! 

Now, as I said, I knew this was coming, because Shufy's boyfriend is my co-worker, Rookie, and he's been so giddy over this that he just couldn't keep it to himself! He'd told me the week prior that he was ready. I'll admit I was a little surprised, considering I'd helped him plan this event for October!

Here is a picture of these two the first weekend Rookie came to visit Shufy last August, when he was still living in North Carolina. We went to Top Golf and Shufy knocked the tee clean out of the holder!

Then Rookie came to visit in October, to experience the annual Shufy family tradition of attending the Texas/OU game at the Texas State Fair...even though Texas lost, we had a great day!

Congratulations you two! April 14, 2012 is going to be a great day!!
